COMMITMENT TO CHILDREN
Under this umbrella, the Ricky Martin Foundation as a facilitator and advocate of children’s rights, participates in worldwide programs that enhance children’s self-esteem through educational initiatives such as knowledge of human rights and by promoting recreational activities that will foster a culture of peace. With partners and sponsors, we create awareness campaigns that focus on prevention to ensure this most vulnerable population a safer world. When deemed possible, in alliance with international organizations, we support children in humanitarian relief efforts after natural catastrophes.
RMF Habitat for Humanity Fund After the devastating earthquakes in Haiti, Ricky Martin traveled to Port-au-Prince with Habitat for Humanity International's CEO Jonathan Reckford to visit one of the earthquake-ravaged neighborhoods in the capital city. They announced the creation of the RMF/Recovery Fund, as a long term solution to construct homes to protect children and families. After the Chilean earthquake, we once again teamed with HFH to rebuild hope in the ravaged communities of that country. Help us Rebuild! We think long term! Navega Protegido
In aliance with Microsoft, in November 2005 we launched an online safety campaign dubbed Navega Protegido. The website provides parents, teachers, and children, a variety of educational and safety tools to prevent youngsters from hazards such as pornography and theft identity online, among others. It also includes educational videos featuring Ricky Martin in Spanish and English, among other vital tools to promote child security on the web. Empower yourself to protect children!
